Legend of legaia save state hacking guide

Or would someone possibly be willing to give me a save file at some point in the Karisto Kingdom before the floating fortress? Thanks for any and all help you can offer. Question is, do you have a DexDrive? Because sending the file to you is no use if you don't have it. I still don't get why Final Fantasy isn't over yet, isn't it Final?

Actually, you're both right to a certain degree. I'm planning to use an emulator PCSX, to be exact , and it is my understanding that DexDrive files can be converted to a format that emulators can understand. I remember reading through a guide on just what you're looking for.

From there you can open up the save file and use its built in hex editor to hack the file. As for the details on the address locations and whatnot, I can't remember. What do I know is that meth has some experience in hacking the save files for this game. Maybe he'll come around and see this topic. Oh, and I just checked through my save files.

You're in luck, my friend. I have a save on Mt. Dhini right before the part where you meet the Soren for the first time. Thank you very much for your help both the info and the save file! That was exactly what I needed. At some point I may replay from the beginning, but right now I just want to pick up where I left off so long ago. How do I add karma to you?

Or do I have to have a higher user level? Karma isn't given out by users, rather it's gained by each day you're logged in. Actually, I am kind of a n00b as far as message boards go I tend to use IRC more. Sorry again Meth's great late entry again to necropost. If you're still looking for hacking save files, you can use ArtMoney for changing memory addresses of your emulator.

This works for emulation and on PSX. Hacking the save file won't work on PSX because of stupid checksums and hash codes. I tried that to my save to edit my fishing and it corrupted my save on the mem card :O I fixed it though lol, just a lesson on remembering to back up save files XD I used ArtMoney for all my testing and I had to convert the memory addresses from the Emulator to Gameshark because ArtMoney works for any windows based program so it has a huge offset of program memory info.

Blah, I hate computers, anyway if you have any questions I can try and help! More topics from this board Is there any certain strategy to catch Seru?

Still a lot to do, but hey! Why I bothered writing this stuff for this game you ask. I love this game and wanted to play it again but So I loaded my favorite hexeditor, a diff tool, some save states and now I want to share it with you, my dear lazy classic RPG gamer.

Enjoy : PS: This guide won't teach you hex editing. There are plenty of other guides who'll teach you better than me. State hacking with ePSXe is a bit tricky but I'll explain it in detail on section 1. PS3: Use this guide with moderation! You can ruin your fun if you go overboard and max out everything.

In fact, I recommend that you beat the game first without cheating, and in subsequent replays hexedit away. Well, on to the guide Index 1. Save state is a file with a snapshot of the game progress on a given instant.

This guide was made and tested on ePSXe for Linux stated above, before the index. Just tested the Windows version using wine. Go figure As I said earlier it takes some effort to hack the states. First thing, ePSXe save states are compressed using gzip, so before you edit anything at all you must decompress it used gunzip but I guess 7-Zip, WinRAR, etc should do the trick on Windows.

Then you load the file on your hexeditor, edit whatever you want, then recompress the file. Remember to remove any file extension that gets added to the recompressed file, if any.

Now you can load the save state on the emulator. A word of warning, it seems that ePSXe somehow keeps the save state in memory, so to edit it you must close it before. Saving in two or more slots and editing one does the trick neatly. Then, you need to fill 'F4' in offset 0xC6 and '01' in offset 0xC7. Got it? The game will show them in the order you put them in the list! Neat, huh? Rearrange them the way you want!
